Water still in the drum after the cycle

What Happens When Your Washing Machine Fails

A washing machine holds water, spins at speed and runs on mains electricity. Getting the diagnosis right matters more than swapping parts quickly.

  • Phone diagnosis first. Tell us the brand and what the machine is doing. Drain pumps, door seals and interlocks are the three most common failures, and we load them before dispatch.
  • Power and water isolated. Before anything is opened the machine is isolated at the socket and the inlet tap is closed, and the floor is protected.
  • Full water-path inspection. Filter, pump, hoses, drawer housing and door seal are all checked, because a leak complaint is often two small faults rather than one big one.
  • Genuine-standard parts. Bearings, belts, pumps and seals are replaced with OEM-standard components rated for the machine, not generic substitutes.
  • Cycle-tested before we leave. A full cycle is run, drainage confirmed, spin balance checked and the area around the machine dried and checked for leaks.

Why is my washing machine not draining?
Most often a blocked drain pump filter, a kinked or clogged drain hose, or a failed drain pump. The technician checks each in turn, clears the blockage and runs a full drain test before leaving.
The machine shakes violently when spinning. Is that serious?
It usually means worn suspension dampers or failed drum bearings. It is worth fixing early, because continued heavy vibration damages the drum assembly and the cabinet around it.
